What is the filtration rating of this mask?
Benni is not intended to provide antimicrobial, antibacterial, or antiviral protection to the wearer. Benni face masks have not been cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or any other governmental or administrative organization.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the FDA has authorized the sale of face masks for use by healthcare providers as personal protective equipment to help prevent the spread of infection or illness in healthcare settings, and for use by the general public to help slow the spread of the virus under an emergency use authorization. Benni is marketing its face masks under the terms of this emergency use authorization.
Benni is not a replacement for medical-grade protective equipment. Do not use Benni face masks in a clinical setting where the infection risk level through inhalation exposure is high. Please continue to follow your workplace/institutional standards and governmental guidelines and orders regarding face mask use and other precautions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Benni face masks are not intended for use as surgical masks. Face masks do not provide liquid barrier protection and should not be used in any setting where significant exposure to liquid, bodily, or other hazardous fluids may be expected.
How is Benni different from other cloth masks?
By now, you’ve seen countless cotton masks on the market. But just as most performance athletic wear has moved on from cotton, we think that face masks should as well. That’s why we constructed Benni out of a performance fabric made of polyester and nylon for stretch and comfort and enhanced with nanofibers to make the fabric antibacterial, odor resistant and moisture wicking. On top of that, we removed almost all of the stitches so it's ultra lightweight, minimal and less irritating to sensitive face.
Why only 2 sizes and 2 colors?
Since our mask is made of a 4-way stretch fabric, we can fit a variety of face shapes with just two sizes. When it comes to the colors, we have to walk before we run. But we have more colorways in the works!
Why only 50 washes?
Benni incorporates silver, gold and zinc nanofibers that provide antibacterial properties to the mask material. However, this antibacterial finish, like other silver-based nanofiber treatments, fades with washing. Our manufacturers have rated the nanofiber finish for at least 50 washes.
